Let’s face it mother and mother-to-be, every pregnancy faces risk. It is associated with certain risks to health and survival both for the woman and for the baby. It is a sad fact to note that every day, at least 1,600 women die from the complications of pregnancy and childbirth. That is equivalent to 585,000 women – at a minimum – dying every year.1

This is the very reason why the Department of Health created a program to end preventable maternal deaths and morbidity, and declared every 2nd week of May as Safe Motherhood Week. It’s vision is …

“For Filipino women to have full access to health services towards making their pregnancy and delivery safer”.
